Ashton Classic Pantela – Great Cigar in Small Package

by admin on March 13, 2010

Being frugal has advantages, but sometimes it worth spending $5 for a decent cigar of a small size. Usually I’m a fan of cigars that have ring gauges in excess of 50, but the Ashton Classic Pantela is only 6×36. So how can a guy who loves big whoppers all of a sudden be interested in smoking something that “looks like my puny friend? ” It all comes down to quality, which the Ashton Company has been known for. This Dominican manufacturer has some of the most stringent quality controls in the stogie business, and plenty of their hand rolled smokes honest don’t make the “final cut.”

A cigar of this size isn’t going to allow you a hour long experience, but at a half hour, you will regain this to be refined enough for its diminutiveness. Novice and expert cigar smokers appreciate Ashton’s, because even though they are on the mild side, they offer a host of notes that you can detect. This cigar delivers a bit of a punch at first, but mellows out hastily. You will get to taste notes of handsome coffee, a bit of nuttiness, along with unbiased a slight hint of chocolate. Its creamy smoke envelops your taste buds, but doesn’t overwhelm your other senses. Its just a perfect, laid back type of cigar for morning excursions, or if you don’t want to be knocked down after a round of golf.

The smoke volume in this size is usually not impressive. However, this cigar shines in delivering plenty of it, and I’m still to this day trying to figure out how they do it. This is the only cigar of this size that has two inches of ash extending on the demolish, which is more proof of its quality. If you want to smoke something “splendid”, this is one of the best looking cigars I’ve ever seen, and is a great choice as a gift to someone. The wrapper just shines, and doesn’t have a veiny appearance, along with its aristocratic band that just enhances its appearance even more. The light brown color wrapper is truly a work of art, and many have tried to emulate Ashton’s, but most fall far short of their mark.

This is one I recommend to cigar smokers of all experience, and its flavors are a bit more sophisticated than most mild selections. Cutting and lighting this is a breeze, and I was able to get one of these fired up with ease on top of a mountain one time, in less than perfect conditions. While it does appear delicate, its strong construction will allow you to tote this in a shirt pocket, or support in a car for a day if conditions are right. The aged tobacco and overall quality make this cigar a winner. You can find these at any reputable tobacco store, and if you select in bulk, you might just put a few bucks with a box bewitch.
